Art at Red Rose Primary

At Red Rose Primary School, we have many fantastic artists from Reception to Year 6. Currently, in year 6, we have been doing alot of graffiti based on the book we have been reading (Scribbleboy, by Philip Ridley). We have also done some graffiti slogans which are up in the studio. In Key stage 1-2 corridors we have been doing all about light and we have done some projects all about it. Recently, Mrs Waters has been running an art club  for Year 6 that everyone enjoyed. Before Mrs Jackson went on maternity leave she held a art club where we drew the queen. As a school we wanted to design a new logo so the school council asked some people to design their own logo. After looking at all of the logos we joined some together to make our new logo. Pieces of art from all classes are on the gallery outside the library. In 2015 the Year 3’s did a tapestry of Chester-le-street.

In Y6 we have been doing graffiti art (scribbles) from the book Scribble Boy. We  have created our own scribbles and graffiti names, which are on the walls. We also drew slogans which are in the studio.

As Well as lessons we have had an art club on Tuesday that did knitting, rangoli patterns and snowmen. In the corridor is our wonderful art gallery filled with amazing art. Rights Respecting posters around the class. At Christmas we designed Christmas cards (this year we did stars).

Over the years we have completed pastel pictures, silhouette and sketching. I really enjoyed it. Painting has also gone on in KS2 like painting the Great Wave and recently the Egyptian Pyramids.

In Red Rose,we have some brilliant artists throughout the school -from reception to year 6. Currently, in Discovery class (year 6), we have been work extremely hard at creating our very own graffiti scribbles based on the book we have been reading called Scribbleboy by Philip Ridley. We have also been working on at some graffiti slogans, which are now in the studio along with our light theme by all different year groups of the school.

Red Rose has previously had an art and craft club, which was run by Mrs Waters on a Tuesday after school they have made lots of fabulous creations.

Watch out for our Art Gallery in March.

New Year, New Starters

2018 has come quickly and, for year 6, S.A.T.S could come faster. We have lots of changes to the school since the summer. We have zones in the playground, new starters and a new building.

The new receptions are very lucky as their classrooms are in the new building. Mrs Sweet and Ms Sweeny are the teachers for Sunshine and Sunbeam. For Sunshine and Sunbeam classes, it is like meeting all your friends for a playdate everyday. In the new building, there is a new outdoor play area with a shelter, sand pit and lots of fun play equipment.

The reception classes do forest school with Mr Rose, where they go into the forest (actually the wood) around the school and do fun things. They have a mud kitchen, a shelter and they can play as there are drawers with toys in. Ewan from reception told me that he likes forest school because forest school gives them a chance to go outside and be as active as they want. Flyn said that he likes collecting the leaves of the tree. Lots of reception pupils liked playing outside. Cara and Jessica like their topic, Dinosaurs.
